Brumby Government bans un-flued gas room heaters, leaving Victorians cold...

 To all our Valued Customers,

In January this year the Brumby Government made it illegal to install new bayonet points that support unflued gas heaters in residential properties anywhere in Victoria.

This has effectively banned the installation of any new unflued gas heater or relocation of your existing heater in your home. This is not good for our businesses. The ban was enacted with no consultation between regulators, government agencies, welfare groups retail sectors, LPG industry or the wider community. The result of this lack of consultation is bad policy enacted after the Government was misled to believe that unflued gas heaters are a major health concern.

Over 1,250,000 country Victorians and low income earners are those most affected by this ban as they are now forced to install alternative heaters at higher installation and running costs. James Shields & Company's Director, Tony Spencer, has met with industry heads and Robert Clark MP the Shadow Minister for Energy & Resources to campaign against the ban which comes into force in November this year.
